Support provided for:

  • Weight Inclusive Care

I believe that everyone deserves to experience respectful healthcare services that are free from weight bias and body shame.

I provide health and nutrition interventions that are not designed to impact one’s weight, but rather encourage health behaviors such as eating enough food, eating a wide variety of food, listening to your body's hunger/fullness cues, moving your body in a way that feels good, and respecting your body and it's genetic blueprint. This approach also works to combat inequities in healthcare related to weight stigma, by acknowledging the role of social determinants of health and the impact of anti-fat bias on one's health & well-being.

  • Recovery from Eating Disorders & Disordered Eating

Whether you may struggle with disordered eating or an eating disorder you deserve support.

Disordered eating exists along a spectrum, including diagnosable eating disorders, as well as dieting and other behaviors that disrupt one's eating pattern and often involves experiences of distress.

I believe that disordered eating behaviors are adaptive and serve a purpose. For this reason, having a therapist on the team (and if indicated, a physician or psychiatrist) can allow for more holistic/complete care that ultimately support you in getting your needs met.

  • Recovery from Chronic Dieting

If you’re considering stepping off of the diet roller coaster, I'm here to help.

Recovering from chronic dieting or yo-yo dieting can be a challenging experience in a culture where dieting and restriction is often viewed as "the norm." Though it is a process to unlearn the rules of dieting, getting re-acquainted with your true preferences around food and movement, and exploring a more accepting relationship with your body is worth it. You don’t have to do it alone.

  • Intuitive Eating

I provide support for those looking for a more internally guided way of eating and self-care. The principles of Intuitive Eating are often integrated in all of the work I do with clients.

Intuitive Eating is defined as, "a self-care framework which integrates instinct, emotion, and rational thought." Intuitve Eating is evidence based & is correlated with improved health outcomes among other positive markers of well being. You can read more about the framework & guiding principles, here

  • Body Image

Body image involves the thoughts, attitudes, beliefs & perceptions of one's own body. Developing skills around self-care (i.e. intuitive eating & joyful movement), body appreciation, self-compassion, functionality and mindful attunement can support a more positive body image. Body image "work" also involves actively challenging arbitrary beauty and body ideals that can ultimately harm one's body image.

I believe that all bodies are inherently good and worthy. My approach to body image work recognizes systemic issues that make it difficult and painful to live in a culture where certain bodies are marginalized.

  • Medical Nutrition Therapy

I provide medical nutrition therapy from a non-diet perspective, which involves a holistic approach to health and wellness. Individual behaviors, (such as food choices) are just one factor to be considered when discussing health- we must also consider the role of genetics, stress, sleep, environment, access to healthcare & social circumstances when we discuss health & the development/management of different health conditions.

Please note: Some conditions that require medical nutrition therapy may not be within my skillset. If this is the case, a referral will be provided for someone more specialized in treating your condition, with your best interest in mind.
